My introduction to documentary photography and photojournalism started in a cold computer lab where the works of James Nachtwey, Mary Ellen Mark and Sebastiao Salgado left a deep imprint on my social consciousness. More importantly, it opened doors to turbulent times and fascinating cultures that were beyond my comprehension and sheltered life. I felt a need to question circumstances and explore today’s world before it becomes tomorrow’s history. I photograph to help myself understand what I see. In turn I hope for these photographs to encourage others to find out more about the world they live in.
